Terms of Use

Last updated October 7, 2026

The short version. Cofactor is free to use, with optional paid plans. Use it lawfully, keep your account secure, and know that you own what you dictate. Paid plans renew until you cancel.

Agreement

These terms govern your use of the Cofactor apps for iPhone and Mac, and the website at cofactor.cc. By installing or using Cofactor, you agree to them. If you use Cofactor for an organization, you confirm you can accept these terms for it.

If you download Cofactor from the Apple App Store, Apple's standard license agreement also applies: Apple's Standard End User License Agreement. If these terms and Apple's agreement conflict on the app license, Apple's agreement controls for that point.

Your account

Your content

You own what you dictate and write. Cofactor processes it on your device, and we do not claim any rights to it. You give us only the limited permission needed to store and sync the encrypted backup you choose to turn on. You are responsible for what you create and for using it lawfully, including getting consent where the law requires it before you record other people.

Acceptable use

Do not use Cofactor to break the law, infringe other people's rights, harass anyone, or interfere with the service. Do not try to break, reverse engineer or overload our servers, access accounts that are not yours, or resell the service without our written permission.

Plans, trials and billing

Availability and changes

We work to keep Cofactor reliable, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Speech recognition runs on your device, so accuracy depends on your device, your language and your audio. We may add, change or remove features, and we will give notice for changes that materially affect a paid plan.

Ending your use

You can stop using Cofactor and delete your account at any time from the app. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk. We will tell you why where we can.

Disclaimer

Cofactor is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. Dictation can contain mistakes. Check important text, such as medical, legal or financial messages, before you rely on it or send it.

Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits or business. Our total liability for any claim relating to Cofactor is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or 50 US dollars. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under law that cannot be waived.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top, and for significant changes we will notify account holders. Using Cofactor after an update means you accept it.
